NOSHA's Fundraising Campaign for New Initiatives

Several new programs have been endorsed by the NOSHA Board of Directors that are aimed at increasing our outreach potential and improving offerings to our members. To implement these programs, funds will be required. Several initiatives and donation plans have been proposed. It is hoped that NOSHA members and friends will be willing to fund one or more of these programs.

Free Inquiry for local libraries: The Council For Secular Humanism has offered us a special subscription rate of $75 for five years guaranteed delivery of Free Inquiry magazine to libraries of our choosing. We are contacting selected libraries to determine their willingness to accept a subscription. You can get this important publication into a library with a $75 donation.

Building the NOSHA Library: A committee is studying the Prometheus Books catalog to select books they consider desirable for the NOSHA library. We will receive a discount on our purchases and expect that a donation of $100 will purchase four new books.

Increasing NOSHA Visibility: NOSHA has paid for the first month's listing in the Times Picayune's Internet Directory, under the category "Associations." This Directory appears daily, alternating in various newspaper sections. A donation of $125 will pay for this listing for one month.

Meeting Sponsorship: NOSHA pays the Smith Library $20 for each meeting, costing us $40 per month. A donation of $80 will cover two months of meeting space rent.

Speaker's Fund: Our most ambition program is one to bring to New Orleans speakers of note, for whom we will need honoraria and travel expenses. For this plan, we seek donations of $500 to $1,000 for our "Speakers Fund."

Remembering that NOSHA has received IRS designation to receive tax-deductible contributions, your donation now will be deductible from your 2001 taxes. Please consider selecting one or more of these forward-thinking programs and sending a check, designating the program it is to be used for, to our treasurer, Connie Gordon, 2509 Giuffrias Ave., Apt. 603, Metairie, LA 70001.
