Howard Bostock on the comic strip BC
- "Discontine BC or move it" - Published in the Baton Rouge
Advocate - August 8, 2001
The folderol that appears on the
comic page under the title "B.C." is at best humorless,
unimaginative and trivial. All too often, the strip contains offensive
religious claptrap, e.g. the July 31 strip. A number of national
newspapers have discontinued "B.C." I with that The Advocate
would join those newspapers and discontinue "B.C." If
The Advocate must continue this strip, at least place it in the
Saturday Religion section, where is rightfully belongs. Long ago,
"Doonesbury" was relegated to the Opinion section of the
newspaper because it was considered too politically oriented. "B.C."
is too religiously oriented. Please drop it or move it elsewhere.
